Anderson Orr Architects takes on the role of Principal Designer and seeks our advice and support for health and safety in relation to a project.
When we receive the design drawings and other relevant surveys, our experienced consultant Chris Haynes will review these along with conducting a site visit, looking for any further site safety risks that might arise. These can range from identifying asbestos-based materials or welfare provision (especially in light of COVID-19), to site access issues and risk of mud on the road.
We then submit the F10 Notification to the Health and Safety Executive, alongside developing the Pre-Construction Information document on behalf of the Principal Designer. This identifies site safety risks, helping the Principal Contractor to work out a strategy to eliminate, reduce or control risk as part of the construction phase.
We inspect the Principal Contractor’s proof of competence and other health and safety related documentation, including the Construction Phase Health and Safety Plan.
Once the project is underway, we are on hand to carry out site health and safety audits, to ensure all CDM2015 duties are being met and the project is running safely. We then remain on hand to help with site safety issues that may arise during the project.
We will also assist the Principal Designer to complete its duties by compiling a comprehensive health and safety file, detailing the project and any remaining hazards for handover to the client upon completion.
At every stage, we work closely with the Anderson Orr Architects team and this ongoing partnership enables a smooth and seamless process, from inception to topping out and completion.
We also act as Anderson Orr Architects’ own health and safety consultants, advising the company on health and safety, and updating their policy, risk assessments and other relevant documentation on a regular basis.
